Intro to Sewing Machine

(Adult/Teen) 
 Level: New to sewing

Learn how to use your sewing machine.  A perfect class for complete beginners and people who have sewn in the past but need a refresher course. Once you get familiar with how to operate the sewing machine it will help build your confidence to start your new sewing projects.

We provide sewing machines for the lesson, however, if you have your own machine we suggest you bring it to class along with the foot petal and the manual.

Sewing 101
(Adult/Teen 14 + up)  
 Level: Basic to Intermediate

Prerequisite:  Students will need to take the Intro to Sewing Machine class if they have never used a sewing machine.Our Sewing 101 class is perfect for students who are sewing for the first time or just want to refresh their skills. Students will learn how to use a sewing machine, take body measurements, select fabric, and use various sewing techniques. This class will help you develop new skills to begin your creative sewing projects.

Projects: Reversible Tote Bag, PJ Pants

Sewing 102
(Adult/Teen 14 + up)
Level:  Intermediate
Students will learn how to create a fashion garment using a commercial sewing pattern. This class is for students who have prior sewing experience or have taken our sewing 101 class. Students may choose a pattern from our suggested
list for their project.

8 weeks / 2 hours each class

Intro to Draping / Pattern Making
(Adult/Teen 14 + up)
Level:  Beginners 

Prerequisite: Intro to Sewing Machine class (if never used a sewing machine)
                       or taken the sewing 101 class

Learn to draft and design your own clothes.

This course, you will learn to create a basic dress from start to finish. This beginners class will introduce you to the fundamentals of draping to pattern making.

Course includes taking body measurements, draping on a dress form, drafting a pattern and testing the fit in muslin. You will then learn how to create design elements within the pattern. Learn to lay out the pattern for cutting, sew a zipper and finish the garment properly

WORKSHOP SERIES 

Class

Alteration Basics
Prerequisite: Have taken the Intro to Sewing MachIne class or some knowledge on how to use a sewing machine.

You will learn how to perform basic alterations by machine. Students will learn how to properly measure and sew a basic hem for pants, skirts, jeans, or take something in. In addition, you will also learn how to do a hem stitch suitable for hemlines by hand.

Fabric and Supplies:  Students will bring one or two items to class that need alterations. The level of difficulty of the project will determine what you can complete in class.

Required Supplies: A basic pair of pants, Jeans shorts, skirt or dress that may need to be alter. Please bring thread to match the project.

  Lets  Sew together   
  (Group Class)  
   Level: Beginner  

  New to sewing? Bring a friend and learn to sew together. 
  This introductory class shows you the basics of threading    and how to operate the sewing machine. Students will       sew and create their own tote bag.
 
  Project: Lined Tote Bag
